London Festival of Architecture 2008
tickets go on sale from 5 May at www.lfa2008.org

The London Festival of Architecture 2008 will be the biggest event of its kind in the world, with over 500
events across the capital from 20 June to 20 July. A buzz of activity will move through five Hub areas across
the city over five weekends, with large scale temporary structures; major street closures animated by art,
music, dance and other events; exhibitions; walks; talks; performances; urban agriculture projects;
and boat trips around the capital’s waterways all encouraging visitors to take a fresh look at London.

Tickets for all events go on sale from 5 May at www.lfa2008.org or telephone See Tickets 0870 264 3333

In addition to the events taking place in each Hub, many will run for the duration of the Festival across London.
People will be brought out onto the streets (and the water) to discover the city as cycle routes, walking tours
and boat trips along the Thames link the five Hubs. Over 25 international Embassies Project exhibitions
(presented in association with the British Council) and a dozen temporary installations from the National
Architecture Student Festival will be on view across the city.

New London Architecture in Bloomsbury will be the HQ for LFA2008, with its galleries hosting an exhibition
about each of the five Hubs and activities going on in them. An international press centre will be available
and LFA staff will be on hand to provide maps, advice and information on all Festival events.

LFA2008 highlights include:

> Specially commissioned temporary structures by exciting practices in key London public spaces including
Tonkin Liu’s Fresh Flower, EXYZT’s Southwark Lido and a major installation by Carmody Groarke in Bloomsbury.
> Talks by high profile architects including 2007 Stirling Prize winner David Chipperfield, Daniel Libeskind
and César Pelli and cultural figures including LFA President Peter Ackroyd.
> Debates including the Urban Age Debate on cities at the Royal Festival Hall and an Intelligence Squared/
RIBA Trust debate exploring the relevance of Prince Charles’ views on architecture today.
> Blueprint Big Breakfasts – full English breakfasts in architecturally significant venues, with speakers
